Members of Studio16 and ‘Locally Made’ collective were invited for a Focus talk at The Royal Pump Rooms, Leamington Art Galley & Museum.
Each artist produced an artwork in response to the Gallery Permanent Collection: Sally Larke made ‘Layers’ in response to the painting ‘Brittany’ by Jonh Piper, Corinna Spencer made ‘Clay Spoons’ in response to the Arabian spoons housed in the Cabinet of Curiosity. Zoe Petrie executed ‘Smoke Fired Horses’ inspired by John Bridgeman bronze sculpture ‘Horse and Jockey’. Elena Cecchinato collaborated with Wendy Campbell-Briggs producing a contemporary ewer, bowls and a bucket, typical objects used in the Hammam. Iris Eisenhart took inspiration from Water -the main element of the public baths- and realised ceramic and glass glazed bowls.
Artworks from these artists are now for sale at the Leamington Art Gallery & Museum Shop.
